Ian Thompson, B.Sc., MES.Aquatic Ecologist, Project Manager
Ian completed a Bachelor of Science in Wildlife Biology and Conservation before earning a Masters of Environmental Science at the University of Guelph. His graduate research investigated the use of Environmental DNA in the assessment of aquatic communities, utilizing a variety of bioinformatic tools and pipelines. Alongside his informatics skills, he specializes in aquatic entomology, molecular ecology, and large data processing. Through previous research and work experiences, he has developed a variety of field collection skills, and has had the chance to work with a variety of biological sample processing methods, from traditional taxonomic efforts to the ever-growing biodiversity genomic research. It’s not uncommon to find Ian with bugs in a stream or in his informatics scripts, but he prefers the ones from the stream.
