EcoReg Solutions was engaged by Agnico Eagle Mines to work with their Nunavut offsetting team and consultants to develop preferred fisheries offsetting options to present to stakeholders. This work included a detailed review of background information and offsetting strategies and participation in various workshops. Preferred offsetting options and two complimentary measures for potential research projects were moved forward. The project currently underway is the evaluation of site specific data water quality data and development of a Water Quality Indices, which could be used to integrate water quality into habitat compensation modeling at the Meadowbank operations.
